4 Days - 3 Night Orangutan River Adventure
Step aboard a traditional klotok boat and prepare for a deeper, more immersive expedition into the heart of Borneo’s ancient rainforests. This 4-day, 3-night adventure offers a slower pace and richer experience, allowing you more time to connect with the jungle, the wildlife, and the unique rhythms of the Sekonyer River.
With each passing day, you'll venture further into the remote reaches of Tanjung Puting National Park — home to the majestic Bornean orangutans, playful proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and countless other species. This extended journey provides ample opportunities for peaceful river cruising, guided treks through jungle trails, and intimate wildlife observations at renowned feeding stations like Camp Leakey and Pondok Tanggui.
Evenings aboard the boat are magical — candle-lit dinners, the sounds of cicadas and gibbons echoing through the forest, and star-filled skies overhead. This is more than just a tour — it’s a chance to slow down, disconnect from the outside world, and rediscover the wonder of the wild.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival at Pangkalan Bun – Kumai – Tanjung Harapan (Camp 01)
Upon arrival at Iskandar Airport in Pangkalan Bun, you will be greeted by our friendly local guide. From the airport, you’ll be transferred by private car to the port town of Kumai, where your traditional wooden klotok (riverboat) awaits.
The adventure begins as we cruise up the Sekonyer River, passing mangrove-lined shores and dense tropical vegetation. Keep your eyes open for Proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and other exotic wildlife along the banks.
After a freshly prepared lunch on board, we’ll dock near Tanjung Harapan Camp, where a short trek of approximately 1 kilometer will take you to the orangutan feeding station. At 3:00 PM, witness the magical moment when these majestic apes descend from the treetops for their afternoon feeding.
As the sun sets, we return to the boat and slowly drift further upstream. Afternoon snacks and warm drinks are served while you enjoy the golden hour from the deck. Dinner is served onboard, and you’ll sleep in comfort under the stars, surrounded by the serene sounds of the jungle.
Day 2 - River Cruise to Camp Leakey (Camp 03)
Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoy breakfast as we continue our journey upstream toward the legendary Camp Leakey, the most renowned orangutan research and rehabilitation center in Tanjung Puting.
As we sail deeper into the jungle, the scenery becomes wilder and denser. Along the way, enjoy a relaxing lunch on board while observing wildlife along the riverbanks — perhaps even spotting wild orangutans swinging from tree to tree.
Upon arrival at Camp Leakey, we embark on a short 3-kilometer trek through the forest to reach the afternoon feeding station. At around 2:00 PM, witness the orangutans — including long-rehabilitated individuals and occasionally wild ones — gathering for food in their protected natural habitat.
After this unforgettable encounter, return to the boat and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing. Enjoy another delicious dinner onboard and sleep overnight on the boat surrounded by rainforest calm.
Day 3 - Pondok Tanggui – Tree Planting – Tanjung Harapan Village
After breakfast, we begin our downstream journey toward Pondok Tanggui (Camp 02). This facility is known for hosting young and semi-wild orangutans who are in various stages of rehabilitation.
We’ll arrive just in time for the morning feeding at 9:00 AM. Following the feeding session, we invite you to participate in a tree planting activity — a small yet meaningful contribution to rainforest restoration efforts.
Afterward, return to the boat where a delicious lunch will be served as we continue cruising slowly toward the Tanjung Harapan area.
In the late afternoon, enjoy a visit to Tanjung Harapan Village, a peaceful riverside community where you can observe the traditional lifestyle of the locals. Interact with residents, visit wooden stilt houses, and explore the charm of Kalimantan’s rural life before returning to the boat.

Day 4 - Return to Kumai – Transfer to Airport
On your final morning, savor breakfast while enjoying your last moments on the river. As we cruise gently back to Kumai Port, reflect on the beautiful memories made during your journey through the Bornean rainforest.
Once we arrive, our driver will transfer you to Iskandar Airport in time for your onward flight — taking with you memories of orangutans, jungle life, and river serenity that will last a lifetime.
